Of Tidying Up & Kids Art

I've been busy for the past week. Biasalah no helper, more chores to do kan. Projek going on (almost finish anyway) ialah mengemas the kids' toys. Kakak decided not to keep many things, which in a way is a blessing because the boys' toys sahaja dah ada 3 tong. There's a tong of baby toys which are of no use anymore but too cute to be given away. But, it is better to give away and put a smile on some babies' faces than to keep them collecting dusts dalam stor kan. Hurmp.. Why do I have to be so kedekut?

Here's one of the categories (owhh.. ku sungguh pathetic, toys anak2 pun ada sorting system), toy cars. These are what I decided to keep. Half is going for donation. Ni pun rasanya dah banyak sangat hilang ntah ke mana.

Btw, my SIL was here for some of the medical courses. She came to my house semalam and brought the eldest 2 to Jusco Bukit Mahkota Cheras. Balik tu both has their hands on their back with wide proud smile on each face. Ingatkan belikan Ummi hadiah ke apa.. rupanya they went to an art session (unplanned, coincidently ada session running) and had fun trying their hands on some canggih play-dough and these are the result..

Tudung Kak Mon

Today is a pretty mandom day for me. The rain holds me back from my gardening. The boys, can't have fun outside so they fight inside. But let's not use that as an excuse to just laze around, shall we. Plus, we need rain, should not complaint about it. No rain no water maa.

I decided to get into my 'organizing' mode today. Nothing big, just re-organising my tudung. I can't do much with the kids around since they'll 'help' me in so many ways.

Anyway, just some personal note - I first donned hijab when I was in pre-U. I was 18. I didn't know what prompted me, it just happended. Like, 'eh nak pakai tudung la' and so it began. When I was in secondary school, there was one ustazah who fiercely warned us (at that time, lots of us not wearing tudung) about not covering. Did I mention fierce? Yep she was. I know she meant well but not all things should be done in such way when she still have other ways to convince us all. Like, you'll be rewarded for something you do instead of you'll be punished for not doing. This is just my thinking k.

Here's are what were to be organized today. Some dated wayyyy back during the time I've just started working. That's more that 13 years oredi! The versatile bawal that is. (bawal as in voile yer, not bawal as in pomfret). The latest being some shawls and syria. And some inners to go with those.

So, folded, unfolded, tried on, pondered upon. Here's are those I am keeping. Some will be given away.

Left - Plain chiffon.
Middle - Plain bawal or voile. again, those are not pomfrets okay.
Right - Cottons for jogging, gardening. yes, I have dedicated tudungs for vigorous activities. soft yet strong cottons. the ones you wouldn't mind to lap peluh with.

Left - Combination of syria and their inners, and Tie-Racks scarves
Middle - Combination of satin 'jemputan' from Sumatera and Mortada.
Right - Donatella (they were famous once okay). 2 top most are given by my parents after coming back from Hajj.

Left - Plain instant hijab.
Middle - Patterned instant hijab.
Right - shawls. I have just started my collection. Expect them to grow.

This is my very first satin inner. Now can the designer come forward and tell us all who the model was? Coz people with head such as mind find our ears all terkelepet and red at the end of the day. Not just that, we went 'whattt??? boleh cakap kuat sikit?? this inner really make our telinga pengappp!!'

Mari Menghias Rumah

My timing went wrong today. I ended up back in Ampang at 11.45, about 45 minutes - 1 hour before Iman class ends. Today, after sending off Kakak to sekolah kebangsaan at 10am then went shopping (only the necessaries nowadays peeps!) in Carrefour, I had meant to singgah at a nursery pokok. The nursery pokok rupanya tutup on Wednesdays. It was messy to turn back home as I have to get on the hi-way to do so. So, pegi jugaklah ke arah Ampang. Boy, it was so hot yesterday, at times I had to squint my eyes eventho the I am using that transition glasses.

Lucky thing, there's this KK Home Deco (web here) in Ampang, situated on the left hand side as I exit from MRR to Jalan Ampang. KK Home Deco is not really my cuppa where decorating is concerned, but hey, I need things to do to kill time. So KK Deco it was then. Kalau dah menyinggah, tak sah tak membeli apa-apa kan. I had this tempat gantung pinggan. You know, kalau konsep ala-ala English tu kan, hak pesen gantung pinggan bunga-bunga kat dinding. I bought yang ada 3 slots, straight down. Ada lagi pesen-pesen lain tapi cam complicated je untuk selera deko daku ni. The price tag showed RM19.90 but after some discount I got it for RM 7.15. Terkejut acik tapi tanpa segan silu masukkan semula duit RM10.00 sekeping dalam beg heh heh. So here's how it looks in No. 49..

Anyway, I need some fact and opinion on something. Can we put animal figurines as hiasan rumah? There's this 3-in-a-group super cute black-and-white cats made from wood but obviously they don't have the sifat-sifat yang betul. No tail and the feet are in in fact, cuma dilukis saja atas kayu tu. Drop me some messages ya.

After more than a month, barulah siap. We had them slipcover custom made. I have tried to sway away from my monotonous, earth tone, plain boring me but this, is the furthest I could go. Which is not of not so much difference pon from the usual me. But am liking it to bits walaupun Incik Tebby sedikit berkerut-kerut when looking at the final products. Man, they want a bit of excitement from time to time, don't they? :P

Anyway, akibat membeli baju tidak ukur badan sendiri.. in this case, membeli sofa tidak ukur ruang tamu rumah sendiri, we had problem arranging these bulky things around the limited space we have. Dari 9.30 sampai 12 tengahmalam dok mengusung sofa ke sana sini before we arrived to the best configuration. Lotih makcik.

Even getting those inside the house was a challenge. They can't fit the one-leaf wooden door. My sliding door refused to open up (after yearsssss of tak dibuka-buka). Kenalah letak minyak, korek-korek sikit, barulah terbuka. Itupun budak-budak yang hantarkan sofa tu yang kerjakan.

And since the sofa are still of 'the boring me, monotonous type', Incik Tebby wants to paint the walls as well. I'll leave that to him after he scrapped of Kakak's girly rosey pink suggestion and my barley white, light grey and boring brown and dull green options. Let's see how man-of-the-house can add excitement where colors are concerned. I am so afraid to play with colors so I play it safe all the while. But Yanggg, let's have any of our girly rosey pink, barley white, light grey, boring brown and dull green upstairs, shall we. Excitement, can come in other form other than color *wink*.

Sofa komoih yang dah jadi kenang-kenangan. Walaupun komoih, it went through a lot with us. Zaman-zaman Iman sakit banyak kali, muntah atas tu, terlanggar sofa sampai berdarah2 hidung. Anak-anak tak sihat lepak atas ni etc. Anyway, kipas berdiri tu no longer with us.. dah pass to my sister and bunga dalam pasu tu dah selamat gondol budak2 buat main lawan pedang-pedang.

2-seater Durrington yang turut besar gaban sama recliner. Recliner tu x ingat nama dia, let's jez name it Tebby Recliner since it was his choice dan tersangatlah insist on buying it. Tapi best wooo dok atas tu. Lembut dan gebus. Sedang dimodelkan oleh model cilik yang belum mandi pagi, Muhammad Iman.

Sofa Shopping

Remember this entry? The one that I asked your opinion about? And remember last week when I told you I was going to buy something that is not-so-small-and-yet-not-so-big? But we didn't make it nevertheless? It's in this entry.

It materialised today. Yippeedeeee! End March or early April, my sofa will be delivered. It's Fella as planned (whatever happens to Homelife by the way?) but none of the ones that I asked your opinion about.

After discussing with Tebby (with him being minority albeit just the two of us involved in the desicion making!), I personally selected the frame design and later carefully selected and mix-and-matched the slipcovers. This time around I opted for damask pattern. You can check here on the definition and some samples but mine is way simpler than that.

So, which one do you think I'd bought? These are my shortlisted three.

Jalan Jalan IKEA

Hari ni hari IKEA. Masa ke Alamanda (baca di sini), cadangnya saya nak ke IKEA tapi sebelum sempat idea bernas dicurahkan, Tebby awal-awal dah rule out - Alamanda.

Kenapa nak ke IKEA? Pasal teko saya yang umurnya lagi tua dari Kakak telah pecah. Macamana boleh pecah? Si Adam main gendang ketuk teko dengan sudu. Habis pecah. Agaknya Adam nak Ummi menang DEKO! DEKO! DEKO! tapi silap terketuk teko. Obviously teko tu alasan je kan ha ha. Dah nyampai kat sinun, ada aje benda lain dicapai.

Kat belah atas nun kami round laju-laju aje. Kat bawah kat market area tu lama sikit. Sapa pernah dengar nak beli teko sampai keluar duit RM300++? Nah, tengok nih resit. Teko dan para pengiringnya he he. Dah beli teko, beli plak mug sedondon. Dah tu tak syok pulak pinggan mangkuk tak sedondon, beli jugak. Adoiyaiii!! Alasan, kan?

Lepas bayo-bayo segala, Tebby sama Kakak dengan Iman pi beli hotdog dan makan dengan senang lenang sementara Ummi gigih membalut segala peralatan kaca yang diborong. Pastu pi The Curve for lunch. Iya, hotdog tu appetiser aje. Sebelum makan ronda-ronda kat bazar bawah tu. Kakak nak handbag, Ummi belikan slingbag. Pastu Ummi beli satu beg jugak. Beg gedik nama dia. Serius gedik dengan juntai-juntai bola-bola tu. Nah tengok..


Lunch kat Little Penang Cafe. I had Penang Curry Mee, Tebby makan Kuetiaw. Iman makan Mee Kari Ummi sama Kuetiaw Abah. Kakak minum air kelapa je. Diet katanya.

Lepas lunch, singgah beli buah-buahan kejap. Acik borong sampai RM20. Ada budak-budak meningkat dewasa ni, kejap aje makanan habis kat rumah nun. Pastu balik. Kakak ngan Iman terbongkang tidur dalam keta dah.

Mari Menampal Sticker

We had just finished buying apam balik near Pasar Sungei Besi, last two weeks when Kakak saw a stall selling all sorts of decorative stickers. Knowing she'll get her way with me, cepat-cepat dia ajak pi tengok. She bought 2. They were selling 'satu RM3, tiga RM10' so Iman got himself one as well.

Later that day, selagi tak tampal, selagi tu lah she bugged me. Dah le hari tu our 'ketam day'. Ketam would have to wait nampaknya. Selagi tak boleh menampal, tak senang makcik nak menggulai ketam sebab dia dok menjenguk ke dapur tak sudah-sudah.

She had the one with big, bright flowers in red on her wardrobe doors. The long stem was quite tricky. Kena tarik pelan-pelan, kalau tidak alamatnya putus dan rabak. The result cantik jugak, don't you think? It contrasts very well with the white doors.

She had the sakura on her bedroom door. She wanted to put them on the wallpaper dalam bilik dia. I disagreed and suggested the door, on the inside. She negotiated the outside part of it and she got it. This one a bit dull. Pale pink against yellowish-cream.

Iman pulak nak tampal dalam bilik Kakak jugak. I was thinking like mad so that I could come out with reasonable idea to stick his stickers elsewhere. Mana macthing ye kawan-kawan sekelian. Bilik yang girlish with white and woody furniture, tiba tiba ada sticker spiderman. Luckily he agreed to tampal dekat dresser Adam. It is white so gambar-gambar spiderman tu memang 'timbul'.

Ni baru 2 anak yang reti nak menampal-nampal ni. Kot yang sorang tu nanti nak menampal jugak, habis le segenap dinding jadi mangsa hu hu!

Solo Camping

Comel tak? This is for the princess. Cadar tema ala-ala fairy yang dibeli waktu jualan murah Jusco. Ini pilihan dia. Saya kan ibu yang mengamalkan dasar demokrasi (pada kebanyakan masa)

Ni pulak night light bentuk bunga Smilla Blomma dari IKEA. Juga pilihan dia sendiri. Should change the bulb to lower watt. Cerah kan main lagi.. nama je night light. Jenuh saya memaku base nya ke dinding. Saya kan bukan DIY person. Nak ketuk paku, asiklah terketuk benda lain.

Ni pulak dresser Leksvik dari IKEA jua. Yang ni Ummi yang decide nak beli yang mana satu. Kadang-kadang perlu jadi ditaktor jua. It fits nicely with the whole concept bilik tidur dia I think (ayat ala-ala interior designer yang perasan okay).

Alhamdulillah, she's back sleeping in her room. Bayangkan kami 5 beranak cramp in our master bedroom yang tak berapa luas tu. Si Kakak dengan Adam memang buas tidur. Siap kena terajang bagai kalau tido sebelah diorang ni. Kesimpulannya, kalau mau kena kiri dan kanan, tidurlah di antara mereka berdua. Iman tak buas sangat waktu tidur. Mungkin sebab waktu dia tak tidur, dia dah cukup buas! Waktu nak persuade Kakak tidur balik dalam bilik dia (she did slept in her room when whe was 3yo++ but then sebab cemburu buta Iman tido sama-sama kami, dia pindah balik masuk bilik kami... sampailah Adam lahir), saya belikan dia bedsheet yang comel-comel. Barbie, princess tu lahhh temanya. Memandangkan it's her room, saya suka tanya pendapat dia tentang barang apa yang nak dibeli. As long as it fits my budget lah kan.

And A Baby Makes 6

Jumaat lepas was my first check-up with O&G. Where else, APSH lah kan. So far so good, everything's okay. I was hardly 5-weeks all along last Friday, we could only see the sac but not the heartbeat. Dr Ashar said between 8-10 weeks, the heartbeat will be obviouly visible. In the meantime, I just need to stuff myself with folic acid and see him after 3 weeks from the appointment date.

Unlike my 2nd and 3rd pregnancy, which I was neutral on the gender, this time I hope it's gonna be a girl. I think after 2 boys in a row, anyone would be feel the same like I do. That's just my preference but if Allah grants us with another boy, syukran. Girl or boy, the baby is gonna be lavish with lots of love from us, the parents, along with his/her sister and brothers. Adam pulak macam tau-tau je. Lately suka sangat dok atas riba. Kalau ummi tengah baca buku ke apa, sibuklah dia berusaha meletakkan diri dia atas riba. InsyaAllah when the baby is born, Adam will be 21 months old.

So far I am ok. No major morning sickness whatsoever. Penat sikit-sikit tu adalah. Pukul 8 malam je, rasa nak switch off dah. Penat ni kalau tak pregnant pun penat. Whatmore during 1st trimester. Can't imagine how it would be like in my third nanti. Harap semuanya berjalan lancar.

Apart from that, we've been dilly-dallying adjusting our lives. We may hire a maid. We may let-go my ViVa for a slightly bigger one. We even think of scouting for new house. Semua peringkat planning je lagi ni. Yang pasti, last weekend, we cleared our boxes of books, magazines and the likes and have them nicely arranged in our newly purchased billy racks. To make it a study area, we put a vika 2m study table. Next action, wallpaper to make the area berseri-seri. Originally we want to have the walls painted green but dah pasang rak semua tu, I think I'll just opt for wallpaper. These, subject to my financial wellbeing jugak. I need to re-assess my habit. Makcik sgt banyak shopping lately ni okay. Ni bukan pembawakan budak ni.. dari dulu lagi semakin menjadi-jadi.

To friend who left comments, who congratulated tete-a-la-tete, thanks a lot. Indeed masa beli alphard, we had just 3 kids in mind. Had we known we're gonna expect another one, we would've settled for estima maybe or innova. Tapi manalah nak tau kan. Looks like the back seat will be occupied afterall.
