Tamon's Homemade PJ Bottom

Project PJ bottom for Adam. Adam is 2 1/2 years now. He's 16kg and wide and quite plump but not quite tall. Bila beli PJ set, baju muat, seluar over panjang. Ended up dia melalak marahkan kaki seluar meleret-leret. So now, we keep the PJ bottoms that come together with the top (until he grows taller) and while waiting, I sew him replacement bottoms. Pasni tayah beli PJ set dah, Ummi jahitkan seluar, bajunya pulak kita beli kat pasar malam. Hebat woo, semua superhero ada. He likes. Kalo pakai, he'd be pointing endlessly to the gambar superhero ayenmen (ironmen), gogoranges (power rangers) and the ultimate ultraman. Those are humbly sold at 3pcs-for-RM11. One piece is RM4. I loike.

Proses pemotongan kain. Senang aje, cuma ada satu bahagian yang curve, lain2 potong lurus saja. Plus, sebab budak kecik punya, I did this kat atas meja study (or meja conteng, habis kena conteng dek anakanda2 tercinta)

The trio. Dark blue. Green. Lite blue. Memula buat yang hijau tu, nampak tak cam pendek sikit kan. Adam pakai cam senteng a bit, hence the other 2 tu ai lebihkan the length by 1 inch.

School Prep

Semalam Kakak bawak balik buku teks for next year. 13 buah termasuk 1 buku praktikal sains. I foresee a busy time for the next 2 months so whatever can be done immediately, will be done immediately. Teruslah membalut dengan jayanya. Thanks to instant book wrapper. Sangat mudah dan menjimatkan masa dan tenaga. It comes in clear plastic or embossed. Your choice. Ai ambik aje whatever baki wrapper from last year. And thanks to Kakak yang dikerah memotong selotep. Instant wrapper pun kena selotep gak, kasi kemas. Cam pakai tudung instant, kena pakai gak serkup, baru kemas.

By the way Kakak, bila dapat buku aktiviti nanti, sila balut sendiri yer. Better still, tolong balutkan buku-buku Iman sekali :P

Kepada kawan-kawan yang ada anak-anak yang bakal memulakan tahun 1, ai cadangkan yang berikut:-

1. Beli buku tulis, buku rampaian dan extra books yang diperlukan semasa cuti sekolah. Jangan tunggu hari pendaftaran. Alamatnya beratur panjang la.

2. Siapkan barang keperluan anak-anak awal-awal lagi. Kalau stationery mungkin boleh tunggu (mungkin dah dekat2 nak bukak sekolah, ada yang jual longgok kan) tapi kalau bab baju, eloklah setelkan awal-awal. Hujung-hujung nanti susah nak cari saiz.

3. Kalau rasa-rasa nak beli extra workbook, boleh pilih Longman, Sasbadi, Oxford atau Pelangi. So far, from the 4, ai cuma pernah guna Longman and plus few others (not in the list). Longman best, siap ada nota ringkas. These books usually come with answers so kalau rasa-rasa anak kita tu ada ciri-ciri spy, sila koyakkan dan simpan kat tempat lain. The 4 suggested adalah hasil siasatan ai based on pengalaman kawan-kawan dan sedara mara yang berjawatan pendidik. Tapi, yang paling penting, dah beli tu, jangan lah perap pulak (like me hu hu). Silalah gunakan.

4. Always have ample stocks of stationery. Pensil, pemadam, sharpener, pencil color, water color, brushes, plastesin, crayons, drawing bloks Biasa lah budak-budak hilangkan pensil semua tu. I always have minimum 2 dozens of pencil, a dozen of rubber, another dozen of sharpener. Pathetic huh? Tak koser ai nak pi kedai semata-mata nak beli pensil sebatang. Lagipun these things tak expired.

5. If money is not an issue, get loads of baju sekolah. Kakak has 10 white tops, 5 green bottoms, 5 blue bottoms, 5 socks and 3 pairs of shoes. Masa mula2 tu sebab takde Bibik, takut tak sempat nak basuh so memang ada cukup stok seminggu. That habit is hard to break. Sampai sekarang I make sure baju dia esp. the white top, cukup 10 lai. If your child is a girl and pakai tudung, boleh cari tudung selapis. Senang nak pakai. Better still, scout around for tudung instant yang ada awning tu. Jangan risau kepala anak panas pakai tudung. Good things eloklah dididik awal-awal.

6. If money is an issue, walaupun year end ni sales berlambak-lambak, terpaksalah tutup mata kejap. Banyak nak pakai duit bila nak bukak term ni.

7. If you intend your child to board van/bus to-fro school, make sure you ambik ample leave to monitor his/her movement. Stalk your child if need be (like I did, for 3 years!)

Iman's First Appointment HUKM

Iman's very first appointment in HUKM. Since he's starting Year 1 next year, we need to have everything in place. Documentation, routine appointments and assessments, regular therapies and whatnots. We did that before actually, with private practices. After mingling around with other parents like us, it is highly advised that we do this in a government hospitals as some documentations from private practices may not be 'laku' when dealing with Kementerian Pelajaran and the likes later.

Appointment was at 10.00 am, Unit Psikiatri Remaja & Kanak-Kanak, Dr Wan Salwina. Ended up, we could only see the dr at 11.30am, at Paediatric Clinik Ground Floor, Dr Wan Hafizah. Oh well. It was Iman's appointment but to get his medical and development history, we were literally interrogated heh heh. All Iman did was coloring an elephant, writing numbers and drawing some fishes. Not that I mind. It was a healthy channel to vent out our worries and concerns and whatnots.

After reading his records from previous Child Psychiatrist, Dr Hafizah said Iman looks ok to her (at a glimpse). From not speaking, throwing tantrums, not able to read, he indeed looks almost like normal kids his age. What can I say.. alhamdulillah. Dr Hafizah asked me what plans we have for him. I told her, my emotionally plan for him is that he's going to mainstream school, in normal class because I strongly believe he has loads of potential and that he'll one day outgrow his problems. Nevermind if he gets last placement in the beginning. Because I believe he'll excel one day. Even if it takes years. Every mother believes that. I do.

Oh, his coloring. It was an elephant that Kakak may have colored grey but Iman did it in many colors. The body pink and green, the feet orange, the trunk purple. He drew fishes in sea with a boat afloat. There was man man catching the fishes. He in fact related all those to Dr Hafizah. In fact while waiting for our turn, he sat quietly for 1/2 hour doing shape puzzle lent by a parent. He had difficulty doing a particular one and we went 'oh, macam ni kot'. He pushed us away, he said, 'you go' and figured it out himself.

12.30 noon and we were done in Paediatric clinic. Were given 3 letters for 3 appointments, visual, speech therapy and occupational therapy. Went to Tingkat 1 for visual assessment appointment and rushed to Basement to set the other 2. Nasib baik sempat before 1. Kalau tidak, they'd closed for lunch and we'd have to wait for another hour.

It was our first experience in a government hospital. The thing is, the hospital is huge and going from one place to another surely made us sweat. The wait is long and we got confused from one time to another. The service, not bad. Not bad at all. The cost? Very very minimal. Even to say 'a friction' from what we've paid before is not right! Registration RM30, assessment FOC, ST and OT RM10 each for a session. Am sure glad I paid my tax! (but can we have more facilities to enable more systematic learning for children with special needs instead of that 100-storeys building pleaseeee)

I am bringing Iman for visual assessment this Thursday, his OT on 18th and ST on 22nd of November. On 13 December he has another follow-up asssessment as well as learning disability screening. Loads to do. No pain no gain.

I have to mention here, to get a parking lot is so so susah. Even on the curb semua penuh orang letak kereta. Always bring small compact car like ViVa if you have one so you can menyelit without mengganggu orang lain. And thanks to En Suami who told me to just get the valet service. (well knowing how terketar ketar this makcik can be, finding an empty lot or how menggigil trying to selit my ViVa) Yipeedee. Thank you Yang.

Pegi Waund Waund

Adam has developed a new morning habit. Pegi waund waund (this is Adam-speak, it means pegi round-round or ronda-ronda). Once En Tebby is out of sight driving off to work, Adam would tell me to get my car key and go waund-waund. Okie dokie.

It's usually just around few blocks of houses in my neighbourhood. Make 2 or 3 rounds and he'd be happy enough. One of the waund-waund trips last week, I stopped at the playground and let him and his brother Iman roam free and have fun. It was 7.05 am (yep, my kids are all very morning person type). They seemed perplexed as to why only them were at the playground. Obviously the more the merrier. Albeit all those pushing around, running about yada yada yada.

7.30 and I drove them back and quietly sneaked out for my usual morning jog.

Iman's Doraemon Birthday

Remember that Iman wanted a Doraemon cake for his 6th birthday? (Read here) We ended up buying just 2 triangular slices of blueberry cake and bought a small Doraemon figurine made of sugar (I think). It came in a pack of 2, with the other one being an Ultraman. Prefect for the boys.

Nothing much pun. Cuma menyantuni anak-anak. I want my kids to always feel appreciated.

Saba (Again)

Okay-okay. This is actually 3rd week in a row we went to Saba Cyberjaya. I dunno what they've put in their cooking but I am totally addicted. Even the rice alone is yummeh enuff to be eaten on its own (chewah, cam iklan roti gardenia lah pulak). We need to give this a break for a while before we become mascot of Saba nanti ha ha.

Since I did not post anything on my 2nd visit (read my 1st visit, here), I'll just do it here. En Suami had Lamb Hanith (again). I thought of trying something with 2 legs, I ordered a chicken dish (Chicken Khabsah). So tamak that we were (*cough* actually it was En Suami), we ordered 1/2 chicken. We should have ordered the chicken only. What we got were, 1/2 chicken and plateful (a big one that was) of rice to go with that 1/2 chicken. For the lady that was. The lady was me. The verdict? Between Lamb Hanith and Chicken Khabsah, I'll go for the lamb.

But, albeit my earlier statement of preferring the lamb over chicken, I still fell for chicken on our 3rd visit. En Suami ordered Lamb Khabsah while I had Grilled Chicken (lama wei depa nak grill, terpaksa ai *cough* tumpang kasih makan nasi En Suami jugak, while waiting *cough*) Oh, we even had 1/2 Khabsah chicken in the middle. Actually I wanted to order liver but En Suami dengan tangkasnya order itu Khabsah chicken dulu. Well, as revenge, I had rice pudding, all for myself. Even tho ai pun makan jugak ayam Khabsah kontroversi tu.

On the way back, tersangkut dalam jem depan Jusco Cheras Selatan. Ada J Card day and people were still arriving even after 10! It took us more than 10 minutes to get home when it's usually a mere 2-3 minutes drive only. Nasib baik perut ai kenyang dan ai dah shopping awal-awal sebelah pagi tadi so ai tak bengang sangat.

Oh ya peeps, I am slowly gaining back all the weight loss sepanjang ai jadi TSAHM nih. Thanks to Saba.

Selamat Hari Lahir ke-6 Untuk Muhammad Iman

Born 3rd November 2004, birthweight 3.3kg, now 26kg

Iman is 6 today! Macam tau-tau ajer birthday dia (he is indeed full of suprises), malam semalam mintak kek birthday. 'Yang ada doreamon tau Ummi. Yang saya nampak kat kedai kelabu tu'. (nota: kedai kelabu = carrefour). Cake will have to wait until everyone at home ya Iman. Kena tunggu hari cuti.

Iman, anak lelaki kami yang pertama. Lahirnya dia 6 tahun lepas, melengkapkan kami suami isteri dengan sepasang cahaya mata. Berbeza dengan Kakaknya sebanyak 3 tahun 3 bulan. Berbeza dengan Kakaknya, dia amat sukar dijaga dan diduga ketika kecil. Sehingga umurnya hampir mencecah 3 tahun, dia masih menangis malam tanpa sebab dan hanya akan lelap setelah didodoi sambil abahnya (abah = pendodoi setia) berdiri. Begitulah seterusnya episod hidup kami, penuh dugaan dan cabaran. (Kawan-kawan rapat, saudara mara terdekat dan pembaca setia blog ini pasti tahu rentetan hidup kami sebagai sebahagian ahli keluarga Muhammad Iman) Pun begitu, kami bahagia! Pun begitu, tetap sayang.

Oh ya, sekarang sudah ada hobi baru. Suka melukis. Cantik. Ada lukisan suka-suka saja. Ada yang punya cerita. Kisah pengembaraan mencari harta karun. Kisah roket ke langit. Termasuk kisah Flapjack juga! Hobi lain ialah ke dapur. Pantang Umminya sibuk memasak, dia sibuk nak tolong. Walaupun lagi buat Ummi kecoh, alhamdulillah. Mintak-mintak sampai besar rajin ke dapur. Mulutnya pulak sekarang.. riuh! Iya, ini anak yang suatu ketika dulu senyap tanpa komunikasi bahasa. Anak yang hanya mula bercakap ketika umur mencecah 5 tahun. Allah makbulkan jua doa dan harapan saya. Walau agak lambat, tetap ada. Nah, itulah tajuk yang pernah menjadi 'moto' blog saya 'jangan berhenti bermimpi'.

Syukran Ya Allah. Permudahkanlah urusan kami.
